Sonny Dykes was introduced as TCU’s head football coach on November 30, 2021.
In his first season as the head coach at TCU, Dykes led the team to the college football playoffs (CFP) and played in the National Championship game, becoming the third coach in the CFP era to lead their team to the playoff in his first season. He also became the first coach in TCU and Big 12 history to go 12-0 in his first season. Coach Dykes won 10 national coaching awards for his performance during the 2022 season.
Before joining TCU, Dykes was the head coach at SMU where he was the finalist for multiple coach of the year awards in 2019. He was also the head coach at the University of California where he won a WAC Championship, won WAC coach of the year, and coached, developed, and mentored Jared Goff, who was the number one overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
