High Wire Artist (of World Trade Center fame); Author of eight published books
Philippe Petit has – literally – seen a view of the world no one else ever has or ever will: from a quarter of a mile in the air walking a ¾” steel cable rigged illegally between the towers of the World Trade Center. Since then, he has enthralled the world in many roles. As a lecturer, Philippe is a master storyteller, presenting tales from his life of self-learning and extraordinary experiences to illustrate a variety of inspiring messages. His appearances are more like one-man shows than lectures.
Philippe Petit discovered his passion for high wire early on, despite not coming from a circus family. Expelled from several schools, he pursued his diverse interests independently, mastering 6 languages and a broad variety of other skills from magic to equitation, juggling to carpentry, fencing to rock climbing.
Audiences are always thrilled to meet Philippe, and he does not disappoint anyone’s expectations. His speeches are peppered with re-enactments of funny or dramatic moments from his life, magic tricks, knotting demonstrations, and lots of sketches on a large whiteboard. He sometimes ventures into the audience. And, at heart, his lectures are profoundly inspiring, remarkably often described by audience members as ‘life-changing.’
From a steel cable the width of your thumb a quarter of a mile in the air, Philippe Petit has seen what no one else ever has or ever will. Since then, he has enthralled the world in many roles. As a lecturer, Philippe is a master storyteller, and he easily incorporates themes and subjects that resonate with a particular audience or conference theme. Often incorporating magic tricks and re-enactments of some of the humorous or dramatic experiences of his extraordinary life, his appearances are more like one-man shows than lectures. Standing ovations, both when he arrives and after he speaks, are routine. Whatever your theme or audience, Philippe will enchant and inspire all.
