Fred played college football at BYU, where he displayed one of the most impressive careers in school history. At the pro level, he has solidified himself as a top linebacker and tone-setter who pushes and prods teammates on both sides of the ball to be better. General Manager of the 49ers, John Lynch, describes Warner as a team captain that “brings the type of leadership and energy every day that a defense and team feeds off of.” One of the best defensive players in the league, Warner has led the 49ers in tackles every season since joining the team in 2018. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Warner can mix it up in the trenches, and yet he still has the agility, speed and athleticism to cover wide receivers.
