Ari Melber is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, writer, attorney, and the host of MSNBC’s longest running 6pm show “The Beat with Ari Melber.” The program covers a broad spectrum of news, law, politics, business, culture, and music — and is one of the “highest rated” shows on cable news, as The New York Times reported.

As MSNBC’s Chief Legal Correspondent and an NBC News Legal Analyst, Melber brings his legal expertise and insightful commentary to a wide audience. He has interviewed influential figures like Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, and Sundar Pichai in “The Summit Series with Ari Melber.”  

Melber brings his passion for music to his reporting, and has interviewed artists like Snoop Dogg, Jon Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Phoebe Bridgers and Erykah Badu. Vanity Fair even dubbed him the “secret fourth Beastie Boy” for his deep music knowledge. 

Melber’s written work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Politico, and Reuters. He also wrote the foreword for the Harper Collins edition of The January 6 Report, a #1 NYT bestseller.
As a former U.S. Senate staffer with a J.D. from Cornell Law School, and years practicing First Amendment law, Melber brings an evidence-based approach to his reporting and presentations.
